If a member willingly chooses to revoke their participation without a valid reason as stated above, they are not eligible for reimbursement. A member who revokes their membership with a valid reason is only eligible for 50% reimbursement of the total participation fee if revoked prior to September 20th, 2026. Article 4 | Force Majeure
Calamities and/or national crises are often unforeseen and can have devastating consequences for our country and people involved in the organization.
Calamities and/or national crises can present themselves in various forms, including but not limited to: COVID-19 (coronavirus), any other pandemic, hurricanes, floods, tsunamis, twisters, structural collapses, world war, water/electra crises and more.
Should a calamity or crisis present itself during preparation of or during the carnival parades, the Curaçao Government has a Department of Crisis Control and Calamity Management who is in charge of advising the Government on the steps to be taken. One of these steps may contain the cancellation or postponement of the Carnival celebration.
In case this happens, the following points are to be noted:
- In the event Carnival is postponed due to any of the above-mentioned points or other unforeseen situation outside of Heritage’s reach, Heritage’s will not reimburse the amounts paid to its members. The main reason for this is due to the fact that many expenses have already been made in preparation for all parades.
- Contribution paid will be held and attributed to each member once carnival continues, given that the parades continue within one (1) year after said crisis or calamity.
- In the event a member tests positive for COVID-19 or any other contagious virus and is in isolation during the parade(s), the member is not eligible to receive a refund or credit, as this is considered force majeure.
Article 5 | International Members
Heritage will accept a maximum of 100 international members based on a first come, first serve basis. Anyone who is not a resident of Curaçao is considered as an international member.
International members need to be in Curaçao a minimum of 14 days prior to the parade in order to be able to make the necessary final adjustments to the costume. If the member does not arrive according to the requirement, Heritage will not be responsible for timely adjustments to the costume and any adjustments will be the responsibility of the member. All other rules stipulated in articles 1 through 5 also apply to international members.
By registering to participate as a member within Heritage the member automatically understands and agrees to the terms and conditions as depicted in articles 1 through 5 of this document and will be legally bound to these terms and conditions.
